Our values are part of our DNA

by Catherine Asta Labbett

Before I quit the 9-5, I worked as a strategist, at senior level in the NHS. An organisation where its’ values are part of its’ DNA. The values it was founded on back in 1948, still to this day, are woven into the very fabric of its being. I was proud to work for an organisation that valued it’s people and its patients.

With over 1.3 million people in its workforce working in hundreds of different professions (I know because I was part of a team developing their 15 year workforce strategy) everybody who works in the NHS is recruited on those values.

Coming from such a value driven, value owned organisation, it’s something that, without a doubt, is now in my veins.

The foundations of Girl Tribe Gang

The NHS founding principle was on making ‘Healthcare free for all’ I was very passionate that our founding principle was one that was about inclusivity, a ‘collective for women who work for themselves or aspire to quit the 9-5’.

It took me 3 years from starting my side hustle to quitting the 9-5,  and during that time, I felt isolated and alone, with a foot in both worlds, but no one to share my new journey with.

As my business grew, I recognised I needed a whole new skill set, and I wanted and needed to feel empowered and inspired by other women riding the entrepreneurial roller coaster.

I didn’t want to sell or pitch to people at breakfast or lunch meetings – and how could I? I was still working the 9-5, juggling family life, a career and a new business. Where you are in your journey, whether it’s a seed of an idea or you’ve taken that giant leap, shouldn’t prevent you from connecting with the very women you need to be empowered and inspired by.

Our values are part of our DNA. They are what we are founded on, and they are what we stand for, and they will continue to guide and steer the way we work.

These are the values our members sign up to. The people we recruit become ambassadors of. The partnerships and collaborations that we create are aligned to.

Our Girl Tribe Gang values

This is us, and we want to share those values with you, at every given opportunity, so that you know what we stand for and what we don’t. Because we are proud of where we come from and what we stand for.

We are honest, open, originally authentic, fair, and transparent in all that we do. We treat others how we wish to be treated.  We are kind, we respect others, and our values are part of our DNA.

We recognise that our often hidden workforce of women working for themselves, or aspiring to, is a rich tapestry of different starting points, skills, sectors, experiences, life stages, ages, cultures, physical abilities, colours, beliefs and people.

Our Tribe is a blend of that diversity.

Our Tribe is built and founded on inclusivity. It doesn’t matter what stage of your entrepreneurial journey you are at, what life stage you are at, or what your business does. You can come and walk on the wild side with us.

Fiercely brave

We are the women taking giant leaps into the unknown. The risk takers. The ‘make it happen’ collective. We walk on the wild side together and when things get tough, our eco-system of support kicks right in.

Women genuinely supporting women is where the magic happens. Competition has no place in our Tribe. It’s about being a genuine subscriber of the greater good.

We passionately believe that we are stronger together. We are founded on collaboration and on leveraging the collective spirit.

Health + Well-being

Your emotional, physical and mental health and well-being is what we were founded on. Reducing that isolation and loneliness you feel with our ‘in real life’ Tribes, bringing together like minded women in the heart of your local community. We’ll keep challenging and championing our cause.
